Adoptable Dogs

Hank Aaron
Adult | Hound Mix
Male, Neutered
DOB: 11/11/19
Named in memory of Hank Aaron, a professional baseball player.
Good with dogs. Potty trained.
Happy, playful, and loveable. Hank is a special boy with a lot of love to give. He had a rough start in his original home, but now we’re doing anything we can to find him a place to finally call his forever home. We are not sure exactly what happened in his previous life, but as a result, he is a little fearful of men when first meeting them. He’s not aggressive, just shy. He prefers to sneak up behind you to sniff your ankles when you’re not looking and slowly introduce himself, however, he loves the (human) ladies and gets so excited to make new female friends. Once he gets his initial sniff to verify you’re a good person, he won’t leave you alone. His favorite thing to do is lean and stick to you like velcro. He’s very cuddly and just wants to be held and hugged. Hank is a little on the bigger side and does have a lot to learn about being on a leash, but a well-sized harness and good strong leash will go a long way. He’s always excited to go for a car ride and will even offer to drive if you don’t want to. Hank loves to play with all sorts of toys or chew on a good antler or benebone. He does love to make canine friends, but a Meet & Greet is required if you have a dog at home because he can be a little picky. Hank would do best in a home with a fenced-in backyard rather than an apartment and would do best with bigger kids/teenagers because he loves to give heavy hugs.
Up-to-date on vaccinations, flea prevention, heartworm prevention, and dewormer. He is already neutered, microchipped, and tested for Heartworm disease (negative).

Tofu
Adult | Boxer Mix
Male, Neutered
DOB: 10/24/17
Good with dogs, good with older kids. Possibly potty trained.
Friendly, cuddly, and playful. Tofu is an all around affectionate and fun guy. He’ll never pass up the opportunity to jump in your lap for cuddles on the couch or go for a nice walk around the neighborhood. He loves making new canine friends, but he can be a little rough and rowdy so a Meet & Greet is required if you have a dog at home. Tofu loves to play fetch and tag with his friends and would love to have family to romp around the yard with.

Maria Maccaroni
Adult | Boxer
Female, Spayed
DOB: 3/7/18
Good with cats, calmer/older kids, gentle/calm dogs
Sweet, cuddly, and extremely shy. Maria has had a difficult couple of months. After being hit by a car, Maria was rushed to the emergency vet where she suffered from a single-incident seizure as a direct result of the hit and run. She miraculously recovered with minimal injuries while in the care of McKamey Animal Center. After spending her time on the designated stray-hold to look for her previous owner, Maria was never reclaimed, and was listed for adoption. Since then, Maria has been adopted twice and returned. Because of everything Maria has been through, she will need some patience while she learns what it is like to be a house-pup again. We are looking for a new forever home for her that will give her the time and patience she needs to reclaim her personality and come out of her shell. Young, active kids, large families, and high-energy canine companions would not be the best fit for Maria’s needs. When you first meet her, because of the amount of trauma she has been through, she will be very nervous and shy, but after a few minutes of calm love and affection, she will realize you are there to love her and not hurt her. Dogs like Maria often become what we call “velcro dogs”, meaning they simply stick to people like velcro with those they feel the most comfort. Much like any other Boxer, Maria does have hip dysplasia to a slight degree, and will require glucosamine and possibly non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication as the years ago by. Because of the way Boxers are bred, their stance and structure often result in hip dysplasia and anyone interested in adopting her should be prepared for that in her near future. Maria is a very sweet girl who needs someone to show her that she is loved, but she will take some time to get used to a new home and will require a level of patience. Because of this, we will be screening applications closely to avoid any issues of her being returned and ensure she finally finds her forever home.
