Sharkey has been a stray for most, if not all of his life. SCRATCH found and captured Sharkey to ensure he was neutered, and upon getting to know him noticed that he was not as feral as many of the cats they rescue. As such, he was brought to our shelter alongside another TNR cat, Flare, in hopes of helping them acclimate and find a forever home.



This sleek, gray boy started out shy, but is such a sweetheart! As is common for new members of our cat room, he took quite a while to come out of his shell, fleeing from people and other cats. Staff worked patiently with him, teaching him that people are nice and want to look after him with as much love as possible. Gradually, Sharkey came to trust the familiar faces in his new life and has become such a loving, affectionate kitty. Sharkey lets out the most adorable trills when you first reach up to pet him, and gladly rolls over to give better access to his soft fur. He enjoys hanging out in a blue box atop one of our cat condos, which we have lovingly titled “Sharkey’s Shack.” He lives up to his namesake in many ways: like a shark, he is misunderstood from a distance, but truly a beautiful and sensitive creature to those who take the time to know him.
